sxcteacher outlines the materials and assembly process for the BluBug Bell Bottoms worn by Citrus Fresh at Open Ear Festival 2025.

Materials

Time: 80+ hours

Assembly 

Step 1: Bell Bottoms

1. Remove lining and detach skirt from Mouldy Leather Trench Coat. 

2. Cut into two equal parts. 

3. Fold at the knee and pin. 

4. Hand stitch to secure.

Step 2: The Foundation

1. Lay out the Vintage Diesel Jeans to serve as the base for the construction of trousers. 

2. Remove the denim at the knee. 

3. Place and pin the denim inside each leather leg. 

4. Hand stitch into the leather as lining.

Step 3: The Magpie Effect

1. Remove the lining from the Rain Trodden Black Leather Jacket. 

2. Divide into sections by cutting along the seam lines. 

3. Take two pieces from each sleeve and stitch them together, suede side facing up. 

4. Cut the Blue Silk Pillowcase into the shape of a feather [loosely]. 

5. Stitch to the centre of the suede pieces.

6. Apply clear nail polish to the edge of the silk material to prevent fraying.

7. Cut small pieces of leather and assemble into a border around the silk. Stitch in place.

8. Pin to the front and sides of the jeans so the feather rests along the side seam of the jeans. 

9. Stitch leather to the front of the jeans. Stitch the upper half of the feather into the jeans. Leave the bottom half of the feather unsecured to allow for fluttering effect during motion.

Step 4: Upper Front and Back

1. Assemble sections from both leather jackets to the front and back of the denim shorts.

2. Stitch the leather together and to the denim base. Ensure the denim lays flat.

Step 5: Lower Front and Back

1. Place hand inside each leg and hand stitch to secure bell bottoms to shorts. 

Step 6: Red Velvet Waistband

1. Remove skirt from Red Velvet Dress. 

2. Stitch into and around the waistband/ pockets of pants. 

Note: I am turning the corset-half into a Praying Mantis Dress for my friends’ wedding in July.

Step 7: MISS MILK Signature

1. Cut pieces of leather into the letters M-I-S-S. 
2. X-Stitch the letters into the bum.
3. Cut the word MILK from Sailor’s Hat worn by Citrus Fresh at the Citrus Cork performance. Stitch messily to back waistband. 

Step 8: Alterations

1. Turn up at the legs and stitch Citrus Fresh into the denim lining. 

Step 9: The Outcome
