sxcteacher designs a pair of pants for Citrus Fresh at Open Ear Fest.
I designed BluBug Bell Bottoms for Citrus Fresh at this year’s Open Ear Festival.
With this look, I aimed to imitate the exoskeleton of a bug.
I took inspiration from Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, The Office (U.K.), and the mis-en-scène of Trainspotting as interpreted through the Cork cityscape.
The wide leg trousers are 100% leather, sourced from damaged, secondhand goods. I used collage techniques to layer and hand-stitch strips of leather. I fitted the sides of each leg with silky blue magpie wings for a fluttery movement effect on stage. For a feminine touch, I fitted the waistband with red velvet trim sourced from a dress and stamped the bum with MISS MILK.
The trousers were built on a pair of 2000s Vintage Diesel Jeans, a gift from my lovely uncle’s closet. I couldn’t have done it without him.
